What another crazy week! We
started off going to the other island for zone conference...so yes, that has
been 6 times flying this transfer! We arrived Monday night and were bummed
because the Elders had a baptism that fell through the day before. We met in the chapel at 8:00 pm with the AP’s
and the Elders of Angra and were told, “We are having a baptism tonight!” What a miracle! The guy who fell through
decided he knew he needed to be baptized so at 9.30 pm that night we
had a baptism! It was such a cool experience!
Wow, the zone conference
was amazing!! We studied D&C 76. I
loved it so much! My favorite part was President Tavares message. He talked
about how Satan is upping the ante here in the Portugal Lisbon mission because
he is seeing that we are having a lot of success and with success comes trials.
He talked about resisting temptation and being completely obedient to keep
these miracles coming!
Man do I love my
zone! We had a goal of 8 baptisms in the
month of July and we got 7!! That’s unheard of here in the Acores! Everyone is
really surprised and wondering, "What’s happing there in the Acores."
We have a saying here in our zone...THERES A FLOOD COMING!!!
This week we had a
division with the elders of Ribeira Grande. I did my split with Elder Van Wagenen
again! We went to the sketchiest place in all of the island. This city is
called "Rabo de Piexe" or otherwise known as fish butt or fish tail
in English. It fits! Everyone was just lying
on the ground drinking beer, and not just the adults, but kids too. A lot of iniquity
there!
So later that night
all four of us Elders bought street food that was so good, (I love street food
in Portugal.) We were walking home when this guy came up to us and
said...”wanna see my museum?” It was super sketchy but 4 curious Elders said,
"SURE!" He took us to this huge room on the side of his house and let
us in. We entered and what happened next
I will NEVER forget! In this museum he had all this soccer stuff from the pros!!
Apparently, he is really connected with pro soccer, and he had HUNDREDS OF
SIGNED JERSEYS THAT PLAYERS WORE IN GAMES!! They were 100% legit with legit
signatures. He not only let us look at them, he let us wear them! I was so
confused/happy/giddy. YES, I WORE A CRISTIANO RONALDO JERSY THAT HE WORE IN A
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME!! I also wore a jersey
that was signed by Messi and another one that was signed by the whole German
national soccer team! It was crazy!!! (SEE PICTURES!)
The temporal thing I
learned this week was to always CHECK YOUR SHEETS FOR BED BUGS! We got a lot of
bites when we slept on the other island and it was bad haha! I hope you guys
have a great week!
