Well this week was another great "learning experience". Our investigator, Catia, was progressing really well and was super excited to be baptized. We taught her all of the lessons and once again, on the dreadful Friday, she sent a text saying she doesn’t want anything to do with us. She’s in Lisbon for a week or two so we can’t reach her and don’t know what happened. We got pretty down on our selves because we have had 6 people who could’ve been baptized this transfer but somehow they all slipped away. That day we bought a coke and sat down and watched the ocean for about 10 minutes and then said, "Well let’s get back to the grind!" We started up again with fire and we have been searching and have found a man who we are now teaching. We just have to keep going with a smile on our faces knowing that we are doing everything we can!!
We had zone conference this week and it was so good! President Tavares is a wizard, wiser than Dumbledore, Gandolf, and Yoda combined (I’m nerding out here). He talked to us about how we only grow when we are out of our comfort zone, and that when things are going well we get prideful and slip back into our comfort zone. We talked about the pride cycle in the Book of Mormon and it’s so true how we get blessed by the Lord and then we totally forget about him when things are going well, we forget our prayers, we forget to read our scriptures, we forget the little things that got us blessed in the first place. I love learning from the Book of Mormon, especially how to not make the same mistakes they made.
After the conference we had a blitz. A 'blitz' is were all the missionaries in the zone work in one area for the day to find a bunch of people for those missionaries to teach. We did the blitz here in Ponta Delgada and Elder Mitton and I were together. We were trying to follow the Spirit and make contacts more meaningful and more direct. We contacted these two middle aged women and for some reason the Spirit told me to go kind of "Elder Holland” on them and be bold and direct. I told them we were here because their salvation was at stake and we needed them to find the right path and it was only through our message. Surprisingly they changed their attitude and were really excited and said they would go to church on Sunday! AND THEY ACTUALLY WENT!!!! I know when we follow the Lord he will bless us with what we need to say.
I am focusing on loving the people of the Açores more. At times I get really annoyed and stressed out so I know I need to pray more for patience. The temporal thing I learned this week is that when you run in the morning you have a lot more energy for the day! The spiritual thing that I learned is that attitude is everything! The Savior showed the way with his amazing attitude. If you have a good attitude in life everything will be so much easier.
Então isso é tudo que eu queria escrever..... boa semana!
