This week was heavenly because we didn’t have
any meetings, conferences, or other distractions and were able to just work in
our area. We saw so many miracles! We were working one day and walked past this
African woman who stopped us and said, “Wait are you guys elders?” After saying yes she said that she wanted to
meet with us. She had been an
investigator about a year ago but her circumstances kept her from continuing. Now
she wants to come back and is scheduled for baptism in 2 weeks. She is
about 60 years old and is very cool!
Next miracle! We found a Portuguese family and
we are teaching them!!! We knocked on a door and when they opened it we thought,
"Oh, another Portuguese”... (Waiting for the rejection). But the mom, Gizella,
let us in. We taught her and her son Tiago who is 13, and her daughter, Madalena
who is 21. There is something amazing about Portuguese... they are like
eggs.... hard on the outside but if you can crack them and get on the inside
they are soft and will do ANYTHING for you. The Portuguese members are strongest in the church! We are seeing a lot of
progress with them, they came to church and are learning so much. Preparing for
baptism.
Man, I love this work! When I am in the
street I just love talking to people, joking around with them, laughing, having
a good time and preaching the gospel! It truly is so fun! We did 7 divisions
this week so it was great being with other missionaries!!
What I have learned: I love this scripture,
Nephi has got it down!
“34 O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust in thee
forever. I will not put my trust in the arm of flesh; for I
know that cursed is he that putteth his trust in the arm of
flesh. Yea, cursed is he that putteth his trust in man or
maketh flesh his arm.”
Mic mic drop right there!! I really am trying to trust in the Lord
and his power and put my own efforts in perspective. This is the gospel of
Jesus Christ, it’s His church and He runs it. Love you all!
